Co-Ed Robotics Session #1 ***FULL***

This session will help students design, build, and program LEGO Robots using the engineering design process. Throughout the week, students will be challenged with several open-ended design activities. The week will start with activities focusing on stability in design and move to other topics, such as gearing, weight distribution, and momentum, as the students incorporate programming and motors into their designs.

WeDo Robotics **FULL**
Grades: 1st-3rd

This session will help students design, build, and program LEGO Robots using the engineering design process. Throughout the week, students will be challenged with several open-ended design activities. Projects will include creating robotic animals, dancing robots, and music bots.

Storybook Engineering

This workshop will explore engineering and literacy as students read fairy tales, folktales, and their favorite books to engineer solutions to problems the characters are facing.

Art and Engineering
Grades: 6-8th

This workshop will blend all forms of art and engineering as students design art-bots, learn to design in 3D, laser cut and etch, sew their own circuits, and even construct their own musical instruments. Students will have the opportunity to explore technologies and tools like EV3 Lego Robotics, BlocksCAD, Adobe Illustrator, and laser cutters.

Girls Week
Grades: 2nd-5th
Dates: July 16-20th

The week will consist of open-ended mini-challenges using different materials and new technologies culminating in a larger user-centered design project. Students will explore the topics of simple electronics, human factors, programming, robotics, and user-centered design. The focus will be engineering, but special attention will be paid to the client and understanding problems to better address problems in design solutions.

High School Engineering
Grades: 9-12th
Dates: July 23-27th

This workshop will explore simple machines, aerodynamics, robotics and maker tools. Students will be challenged to build trebuchets that fire tennis balls, balsa/tissue paper planes that fly, bluetooth remote-controlled robots and a variety of microcontroller projects. Students will have the opportunity to work with woodworking tools, laser cutters, the EV3 robotics platform, and microbit controllers.

Survival Engineering
Grades: 3rd-5th

In this workshop, students will engineer practical and functional solutions that could help them survive in the wild. From shelter, to water filtration, to catching their own food, students will be challenged with design activities to test their survival skills. Activities will focus on the engineering design process as students plan, build, and test their solutions. Although some activities will be tested outside, most of this workshop will take place in the comfort of our air conditioned workshop space.
